Custom metrics

Build your own numbers from the base metrics, like spend / leads or revenue - spend.

  1. Open Settings, then Markup and metrics.
  2. Under Add a custom metric, type a name, for example Cost per lead incl. fee.
  3. Pick Show as (Number, Money or Percent) and the number of decimals (0 to 4).
  4. Type the formula, for example spend / leads. Lumina checks it as you type.
  5. Tick Lower is better if the metric is a cost, so a drop shows in green.
  6. Click Add metric.

Custom metrics show in report number tiles, charts, tables and the chart metric filter, and in PowerPoint and Excel downloads.

  • A formula uses numbers, + - * / and brackets, and these names: spend, impressions, clicks, link_clicks, conversions, revenue, reach, leads, installs, engagements and video_views. It must use at least one name, and can be up to 300 characters.
  • Percent shows the result times 100, so clicks / impressions reads like a CTR.
  • Each formula is worked out from the totals for a row, a day or the period, so it is never an average of averages.
  • Dividing by zero, or a number the platform does not report, shows as empty, not 0.
  • Formulas with spend include the client's markup where the client sees markup.
  • Clients see the metric's name and value, not its formula.
  • A workspace can have up to 50 custom metrics. Only owners and admins can add, edit or delete them. Deleting one removes it from the reports that show it.
